Official Press Statement; Brong Ahafo Music Awards – BAMA 2018

“Breaking Regional Music barriers”! – The theme for the 2018 edition of BAMA (Brong Ahafo Music Awards) Festival has tested our pulse as organizers of the awards scheme.
On behalf of the management team of J Black Code Events Ghana, I wish to officially extend our profound gratitude and also render an unqualified apology to the president of the Queen Mothers Association, the Traditional leadership of Sunyani, the Regional Police Command, the Brong Ahafo Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourism Authority, MUSIGA, BAMA Nominees, various Musician, the Media, Heads of various Institutions and the general music lovers across the country; particularly, the Brong Ahafo Region, for the love and support shown during a time that we have been faced with financial difficulties in hosting the maiden edition of the BAMA (Brong Ahafo Music Awards) scheme on the 11th of August 2018, at the Eusbett International Conference Center as part of our role and effort to promote the Music and Creative Arts industry in the region.

We wish to bring to the notice of the general public that, following an unsuccessful negotiation for the use of the venue initially channeled through the General Manager of Eusbett Hotel – Sunyani, our management team further contacted the Managing Director (MD) of Eusbett Hotel; popularly known as ATTA KWABENA, on the 10th of August 2018 for further negotiation to enable us to use the Conference hall for the BAMA Awards Scheme. After or negotiation with the MD, we deposited ten (10%) of the total amount (GH₵5000) charged for the use of the Venue and was issued an official Eusbett Hotel LTD receipt at the hotel reception after payment.

With confirmed and entrenched assurance from the MD, we the BAMA team had full confidence that the venue had been finally secured and we had to move on with our final preparations for BAMA NIGHT on the 11th of August 2018. We were made to understand that, the venue was going to be available for use after 6pm on the 11th of August 2018, of which we agreed to.
We wish to, however, emphasize that, our attention was drawn by a close ally of the MD few minutes after 7pm that we had to raise the total fee charged (GH₵5000) for the use of the Eusbett Conference hall before an authorization could be given to host BAMA 2018 at the venue. Through the benevolence of some individuals whose names have been withheld for some reasons, the BAMA team managed to raise 50% (GH₵2500) of the total fee charged (GH₵5000) which was paid at the front desk of Eusbett Hotel.
To our greatest disappointment, the management of Eusbett Hotel still insisted that we had to make a full deposit of GH₵5000 before the venue could be used.

We are therefore by this press release bringing to the notice of the general public that, we are confident to reiterate that, the rank and file of Eusbett Hotel Ltd is a major factor for our failure to host the 2018 edition of BAMA Awards Scheme as scheduled. Granted! Though our initial deposit for the use of the venue was made late, this had no effect on hosting BAMA 2018, as recourses for branding, stage and effects, award plaques, decorations and other relevant materials were all secured for use on the 11th of August 2018.

The organizing body and team of BAMA wish to, however, assure the general public that, a new date (21st of September 2018) has been rescheduled for BAMA 2018; hence, the venue, time, and related information will be made public in a short while. We wish to, therefore, thank you all for your kind support, love and encouragement.

Stonebwoy Deserved a BET Award Nomination ||

No Ghanaian was nominated for the BET Awards 2018. El gringo and Sergeant Lee did not receive any nominations.

The nomination list for the BET Awards 2018 has been released and most Ghanaians and Africans in general were in high anticipation of knowing the names of the artists nominated for the Best International Act Category.

It was quite surprising to see that no Ghanaian Artist was nominated in that Category. Ghanaian Afro pop Reggae and Dancehall artist Stonebwoy was expected to be nominated from Ghana looking at the works he put out there during the year under review. The 2015 BET Award winner for the Best International Act released his third studio album under his current label Zylofon music entitled Epistles of Mama.

The Epistles of Mama Album featured a host of international musicians including Sean Paul, Morgan heritage and so on. Stonebwoy’s album topped several charts globally and he nearly won a Grammy Award for being featured in an album created by Jamaican Reggae icons Morgan heritage.

Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie and Self acclaimed Dancehall king Shatta wale also did their best but couldn’t make the cut for the Best international Act category. Another very shocking exemption was Nigerian superstar Wizkid whom most people think deserves a spot on that list.

Wizkid is slated to perform at this year’s Ghana meets naija concert at the international conference in Ghana.

The nominations for next month’s ceremony were announced Tuesday night (May 15).

The BET Awards will air live on BET on June 24 from Los Angeles.
